December Guild Meeting
MKG-Meeting December Guild Meeting
Tips & Tricks with Mary Lou Egan
Even the most accomplished knitter can learn a few new tips and tricks. This class will have tips for casting on and binding off, increasing and decreasing and which techniques to use where, keeping track of increases and decreases, counting rows, mastering the lying gauge swatch, simple seams, neater edges, (Why is my last stitch always loose?) sewing on buttons, stitch holder substitutions, and lots more! Plus, participants always have a trick up their nicely knitted sleeves to astound and amaze.
Mary Lou has been teaching knitting and designing for a long, long, time. She teaches regularly at The Yarnery in St. Paul, when there isn't a pandemic, as well as other shops and fiber festivals nationwide. As a teacher, she likes class to be fun, and the knitting not stressful. The insight gained from teaching plus working knitting clinic has given her insight in ways to address the challenges knitters face, and the chance to practice tips and tricks on unsuspecting knitters. The title of her last book “Drop Dead Easy Knits” pretty much sums up her knitting preferences. She has a day job in community development, a Norwegian Fjord horse, and big garden. You can follow MLEganDesign on Instagram and find her designs on Ravelry, where her username is mlegan.

A couple of Zoom housekeeping notes:
- Please make sure your Zoom username is your first and last name if you'd like to be eligible for the member door prize drawing.
- If you join the meeting using a laptop or desktop and don't have a camera, you will not be visible to others.
- The larger the device, the more people you'll be able to see at once and the easier it will be to see the chat function.
- When you log on, you can choose to be visible or not (but we'd love to see your faces! :))
- To minimize background noise, you will be muted when you join. Only the speaker will be audible.
- You will be able to mute and unmute yourself but please stay respectful of our speakers. We will mute you if your background noise is distracting.
- We will have a brief breakout session between the business portion of the meeting and the speaker. This way we can connect and socialize in smaller groups.
- Make yourselves at home, literally! Grab a drink, grab a snack, grab your knitting, and kick back.
- The meeting will still be social, just in a different way. There is a chat feature, and we encourage you to use it!
- We will be recording our meetings and posting them (when applicable) to the members-only section of our website.
- We will have designated "tech support" to assist you via private chat for any tech issues that you may face. Just type "help" in the chat function to let us know you'd like assistance.
We hope to see you there!
