Volunteers needed for Northside Knitting Group for Kids!

Northside Child Development Center seeks volunteers who have a love of knitting and who can share it’s benefits with children. The kids are eager to learn all that they can do with knitting needles and a ball of yarn. Apart from the creativity and joy that children experience while making something special to keep or share, there are other benefits as well. The rhythmic and repetitious elements of knitting have a calming effect on kids and they find it very relaxing especially after a long day at school. The group of 6-8 children meets weekly on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in Minneapolis. Interested volunteers should contact Mary Schoelch, Volunteer Resources Specialist (mary.schoelch@cctwincities.org or by phone: 612-204-8486).

Call for Committee Members!

Social Media & Content Committee: This committee is a great option for people who would prefer to "meet" digitally - you need not be a Twin Citian to participate! We are looking for:
1) content curators to keep our social media channels current and fresh
2) photographers for our meetings and events and
3) contributors for our blog.
Duties will vary based on the position. Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week.
If you are interested in any of the above or would like to know more, reach out to Kate Westlund, Social Media & Technology Director: socialmediamnkg@gmail.com.

Website Exploratory Committee: As we look to 2020, we'd like to modernize our website. This includes making the site mobile-responsive for viewing on phones and tablets, adding event sign-ups so we don't have to go through a third party for events like Stitch & Pitch, and removing some features that are not currently utilized. We are looking to form a committee to explore our options for next year. If you are interested in leading* or sitting on the committee, reach out to Kate Westlund, Social Media & Technology Director: socialmediamnkg@gmail.com. (*Please note: we are not looking for web designers and developers, but rather people with digital project management experience who could shepherd us into this exciting new phase!)

Governance Committee: Want to get involved but can't commit to regular meetings? We are looking for volunteers to support our Board activities. This committee is another opportunity to "meet" digitally. If you are interested or would like to know more, reach out to Amy Hawley, President: presidentmkg@gmail.com.

Membership Experience Committee: The goal of this committee is to create get-togethers, events, and experiences for Guild members outside of Guild meetings. This committee will do most of its work through email, online meetings, and at the actual events.

We are looking for people who:

  1. Think you can knit just about anywhere .
  2. Have good follow-through, they don’t just come up with ideas, but also make them happen.
  3. Like to be a host and make everyone feel welcome.

Members outside of the Twin Cities area who are interested in hosting knitting related events where they live are encouraged to join this committee. The Guild would like to help you plan, fund, and promote those events where possible.

If you are interested in joining this committee or would like to learn more, please contact Kathy Lewinski, Membership Experience Director, at membershipmkg@gmail.com
