From Mary A. McCormack's Spool Knitting published by Beckley-Cardy

is one of her favorites.
MKG member Shelly Britton developed this pattern based on a simple
two-color snowflake pattern (from Nancy Bush's "Folk Knitting in
Estonia") around the body of the hat. If you're feeling adventurous,
you can finish off the top of the hat with a little round knitted
snowball!
MKG member Yvonne Eyer provided this pattern for the Preemie Mitten Community Service project.
Children's Hospital uses these mitts on the preemies to prevent them from pulling out tubes.

Interweave Knits' managing editor Ann Budd designed these socks as a gesture of gratitude
"to honor the men and women who work to save lives in our communities during times of
need, not only during national crises like the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, but
every day."
Here at home, Clickity Sticks Yarn and Such in Minneapolis has agreed to be a collection
point for socks that will protect the feet of firefighters and other rescue workers in
the cold months ahead. So get to work - enjoy the peaceful process of knitting - and
drop your socks off at Clickity Sticks, 2726 East 50th Street, Mpls, MN (612-724-2500).
Former MKG President Bob Gotwalt has donated this pattern. These mittens were
used by farmers and field hands to gather crops and handle forks,
pails, and other farm tools while still keeping their hands warm. I
would probably rename them "Glottens," as they serve as half-fingered
gloves with a mitten pulled back when dexterity is called for. They
have been in farmer's families for years.
