From MKG Cable Gram, Volume 18, Number 1
For many years, the Minnesota Knitters' Guild has supported the Little Red Stocking program of the Children's Home Society, donating yarn to volunteer knitters who make hats, mittens, and scarves for needy children. From July 2001 through the first part of 2002, we contributed more than 54 pounds of yarn (more than 118 skeins) that were distributed to the Little Red Stocking's volunteer knitters. They knit hats, mittens and scarves to warm young hands and hearts. Along with toys and books, these hand-crafted items fill 2,300 large red stockings for children every year – clients of Children's Home Society's programs in adoption, child care, and the Crisis Nursery Services.
If you have full skeins of acrylic yarn that you want to clean out of your stash, please bring them to a Guild meeting and give them to Shirley Ungar or Yvonne Eyer. We will get them to Children's Home Society or one of our other charities.
