Knitting Meets Weaving
Of course weavers and knitters have a lot in common, but it's not often that we get to explore those commonalities. This fall and winter, the Weavers Guild of Minnesota (which shares an address with the Minnesota Knitters' Guild: the Textile Center at 3000 University Ave. SE., Minneapolis) offers two classes designed to foster cross-cultural growth.
Summertime for Knitters!
Summertime in Minnesota is our reward for slogging through a Minnesota winter. Although temperatures so far are cooler than normal, we know that any day now it will be time to put away the woolen projects and break out the cotton, linen, and soysilk. Knitting on the beach by a Minnesota lake—it doesn't get any better than this.

It’s almost spring in Minnesota—if you can look past the icicles and snowdrifts—and that can mean only one thing: It’s almost time for the eleventh annual Shepherd’s Harvest Sheep and Wool Festival, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo, Minn.

Minnesota Knitters' Guild Cable Gram, Volume 23, Number 4
I am honored to be the Minnesota Knitters' Guild representative to the Textile Center library. I volunteered for the position last summer because it was unfilled and beckoned to me.
I had no idea what was involved, other than buying books for the library. I have since learned there is more to it than that, but I am up for it! I have a lifelong love affair with books that has resulted in well-filled bookshelves and closets at home (with at least some closet space left for knitting stash). Some might say I am a bit obsessed!
Library Loses Friend, Gains Endowment
The Minnesota Knitters’ Guild is closely linked to the Textile Center, a wonderful fiber resource in Minneapolis that hosts both our monthly meetings and our extensive library of knitting books. So we were gladdened and saddened by recent news about it—glad for such a generous gift, and sorry that we have lost such an extraordinary friend of knitting.
