This is the event you have all been waiting for!  In just a few short weeks — Saturday, April 30, to be exact — knitting royalty from around the country will be converging at Hopkins High School for a day of learning, fun, and stash enhancement. This is the MKG's 25th annual Yarnover, and for many members it kicks off the spring. The most difficult choice is which of the three- to six-hour classes to take. If workshops aren’t your thing, be sure to check out our ever-popular market, where wonderful goodies await your perusal.

You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours letting you know we have received your Yarnover registration.

We are accepting general registrations now, but they will be held until after the Early Bird Registration random drawing takes place on January 23.  General Registrations are numbered as they come in and will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is always something for everyone. Tell all your friends to join you and us for a fabulous day of knitting bliss. A general registration form is available for your friends at knitters.org.

Advanced registration will close on April 22nd.  Walk-ins will be welcome to register for any open classes.

Everything you need to know about Yarnover 2011!

Guild members who have paid their dues by December 31, 2010 will be slotted into classes first. After that, registration will be first come, first serve for both those who paid their dues after December 31 and non-members. See the Yarnover class brochure for details.

• Registration starts on January 9, 2011, and the registration form will be available here on knitters.org on that date. Shawls knit by Minnesota Knitters' Guild members will be featured in the Textile Center Community Gallery March 4 through ­April 8, 2011, and all Knitters’ Guild members are eligible to participate.

The only criteria for being an artist entering a shawl is that you must have made the shawl yourself, and you must be a member of the Minnesota Knitters' Guild.

Watch here for a submission form that you can complete to compose the label text that will accompany your shawl. You will write the shawl's title, if any, materials you used, and techniques. Your statement will include the challenges involved and themes interpreted, as well as traditions honored or innovations explored.

The gallery area encompasses the public areas linking the Weavers’ Guild, TC offices, Auditorium, and Library. TC carries insurance, but it is expected that artists have their work covered under their own personal policy. Shawls will be installed with consideration of a reasonable amount of safety for the shawls, and a new security system keeps watch on the area.

Items can be for sale, with 60% of the proceeds going to the artist and 40% to the Textile Center.

Each participating member will need to sign an Artist Agreement giving the Textile Center permission to exhibit your work and to photograph your shawl for promotional purposes.

The Travel, Trips and Retreats Committee has planned another event for MKG members! Come and join us March 18-20 for a weekend of knitting in a cozy lodge just north of Brainerd at beautiful Knutson Point Retreat Center!
