Shepherd's Harvest 2011, May 7th and 8th

Posted in News by Infomaster on Mar 22nd, 2011

It's Mother's Day weekend, so it must be Shepherd's Harvest Festival time!

On May 7 and 8 at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo, we have the biggest fiber fest of the year in all of Minnesota! Click here to visit the 2011 Shepherd's Harvest Festival website.

Shepherd's Harvest brings together ranchers from all over the upper Midwest and Canada selling their own unique yarns and fleeces. On top of that, fabulous Minnesota yarn shops will be there, too, selling their beautiful yarns, specialty knitting and spinning tools, and other wares. If you're not a knitter or spinner or crocheter, come along anyway, because you'll find finished sweaters, shawls, and other knitted and crocheted items.

Let's be honest. Minnesota winters are long and hard. "It gives you time to think," as the old people said. Immigrants to our region in the 1800's and early 1900's were predominantly German and Scandinavian, and those countries had strong knitting traditions. Those traditions have been handed down through families from grandmas and moms and aunts to grandchildren, daughters and nieces, and nephews and sons. The result? Our region has some of the most skilled and avid knitters in the country, our yarn shops amaze those from other parts of the country, and our ranchers spoil us.

We would love you to join us for Shepherd's Harvest no matter where you're from or wherever you live now! We love seeing old friends and making new ones!

Nearby Stillwater, Minnesota has hotels, B&Bs, and motels where you can stay if you're coming from out of town and can't stay with a relative. It happens.

2011 Registration for Yarnover is Still Going On!

Posted in News by Infomaster on Feb 14th, 2011

This is the event you have all been waiting for!  In just a few short weeks — Saturday, April 30, to be exact — knitting royalty from around the country will be converging at Hopkins High School for a day of learning, fun, and stash enhancement. This is the MKG's 25th annual Yarnover, and for many members it kicks off the spring. The most difficult choice is which of the three- to six-hour classes to take. If workshops aren’t your thing, be sure to check out our ever-popular market, where wonderful goodies await your perusal.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Here is the latest 2011 Yarnover class brochure showing which classes are filled.

If you prefer pictures, we also have the more fully illustrated version of the Yarnover brochure showing which classes are full.

Click here to open the PDF General Registration Form. Print the form, fill in your information, scan it and email it back to .  Or mail it to Anna Blomster via US mail at the address on the form.

You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours letting you know we have received your Yarnover registration.

General Registrations are numbered as they come in and will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is always something for everyone. Tell all your friends to join you and us for a fabulous day of knitting bliss. A general registration form is available for your friends at knitters.org.

Advanced registration will close on April 22nd.  Walk-ins will be welcome to register for any open classes.
