On August 23rd, starting around 7 p.m., baseball players from the St. Paul Saints and the Sioux City Explorers will gather at Midway Stadium on Energy Park Drive in St. Paul to watch the knitting action in the stands and try to play some baseball.
The night will begin with a yarn swap at the front gate before the game. So far, no word on how many ballplayers will attend the swap.
Those knitters who are able to break away from the swap and make it through the gates may then form their own teams in the stands and make up their own knitting challenges as the baseball game progresses.
Thirteen dollar ticket packages include a reserved outfield ticket, a hot dog and pop, and a Saints hat. Fourteen dollar packages include a ticket and food, and a Daryl Strawberry bobblehead instead of a hat.
Both free agent knitters and those knitters wily enough to form teams before ticket purchase can buy one or many ticket packages online at www.saintsgroups.com. (The password is stitchpitch.)
