September 2008 Knit-Out Pleased All

September 2008 Knit-Out Pleased All

Patsy Fisk, chair of the MKG's annual fall Knit-Out, reports that it was "a wonderful success."

With many volunteers and participants, the fifth annual event, held Sunday, September 28, at the Brookdale shopping center in Brooklyn Center, featured two fashion shows and two Fastest Knitters contests. "We had expert knitters and a community service table," Fisk says. "We had Susan Rainey's Thursday Grand Knitters. We had a wonderful master of ceremonies in [MKG past president] Bob Gotwalt. We had a fabulous yarn shop display. We had many, many teachers. Out of an estimated 250 participants, we taught about 100 new knitters the knit stitch."

Fisk says that it was MKG volunteers who made it all possible. She gives special thanks to Ann Sisel, Carol Parshall, Celeste Grant, Ellen Reeher, Eryka Jackson, Jana Wegwerth, Jane Sander, Jeanne Beanh, Jennifer Williams, Joan Smith, Julie Sellner, Karen B. Lehman, Kathy Dorn, Lori Ihnen, Mary Brown, Mary Heer, Melissa Franzen, Michele Buck, Michele Germanson, Pam Hodges, Paula Knutson, Bob Gotwalt, Shari O Flanagan, Shelley Monitor, Steven Berg, Susan Rainey, Theresa Innis, Vicki Olson and Wendy Johnson.

Fisk adds that Gotwalt's remarks at the Knit-Out expressed her feelings exactly: "I just wanted to thank all of you for your phenomenal and tremendous and fantastic and unbelievable work on making the 2008 Twin Cities Knit Out a success again this year!  It was such an honor for me to be asked and to play Master of Ceremonies again, and, without all of your help and pre-work and commitment to the Guild and the love of knitting (and crochet, too!), I could not have done that nearly as easily. Thanks again to each and every one of you. What a fabulous group of people!"
