The Minnesota Knitters’ Guild is closely linked to the Textile Center, a wonderful fiber resource in Minneapolis that hosts both our monthly meetings and our extensive library of knitting books. So we were gladdened and saddened by recent news about it—glad for such a generous gift, and sorry that we have lost such an extraordinary friend of knitting.
Here is what Nancy Mambi, the librarian of the Textile Center, writes:
“Pat O’Connor, a longtime supporter of the Textile Center and an avid knitter, passed away early in December. She and her husband Paul (a weaver) gave the Textile Center its first large donation to get the Center started back in the mid-1990s. Her family would now like to start an endowment for the Textile Center Library. The Textile Center’s library will be named after Pat in honor of her contributions to the arts and her love for knitting.”
The library is soliciting more gifts to add to Pat’s bequest, which runs to right around six figures. For more information, see the library's Web site.
