MKG Cable Gram––Volume 23, Number 1
As Alice Adams is out in sunny California nanny-ing her granddaughter, she has stepped down from leading the NLA this year. She has worked hard to get the Northern Lights Affiliate, the Duluth chapter of the Minnesota Knitters' Guild, up and running. We appreciate all of her hard work over the past few years. This may seem like a contradiction due to the handful an infant can be, but we hope she enjoys her well-deserved rest!
We’ve divided some duties up here, with Irina Haller pulling Secretary duties as well as continuing as Treasurer. Amy Rosenholm is handling Membership and I’m leading the charge into 2007 as the acting President.
We are continuing our meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month except for October when we’ll meet the third Wednesday due to Halloween and December when we have our Holi-yarn party at a location yet to be determined.
The February meeting featured the UMD Knit Wits dropping in for a program on “What’s Hot With Young Knitters”. Besides our annual Knit Out at Miller Hill Mall, programs will include Vintage Knits––Academy Style!, Shawl Basics, Knitting As Art, Toe Up Socks, Polymer Bead Making, Cast On, Cast Off––Don’t Be Cast Away, Garter Stitch Basics, Yarn Painting & Dying Techniques and Steeking. We have also discussed having a weekend workshop and a summer picnic. You’re all invited! Check www.knitters.org for updates.
Shannon Szymkowiak is a former MKG member and now a proud current member (and President!) of the NLA.
