MKG Cable Gram - Volume 21, Number 3
A Grand time was had by all at the Knit-Out on Sunday, October 9th at the Ridgedale Mall in Minnetonka. We passed out more than 1,000 flyers announcing our event. The Hopkins Sun Sailor newspaper not only listed us in the community news, but had an article about Knit-Out as well. We had about 40 volunteers, and our Master of Ceremonies this year was Bob Gotwalt. We had knitting experts there to answer knitting and purling questions. We had a great charity table that accepted completed projects and gave out patterns to start new projects.
Our knitting teachers were kept busy teaching children, young adults and even a lady who had not knitted in 40 years came by to get started again. The Grand Chair Knitters were busy all afternoon, did a wonderful job and had many projects to show. The fashion show was fabulous-we really had enough garments to have three shows! The fastest knitter contest was won by Jackie Davis, who won a one-year membership to the Guild. She was not a current member and wants to start coming to the meetings. The yarn shops did themselves proud this year and we gave out more than 30 door prizes. All volunteers received a red-with-white-printing signature hanky commemorating the event.
A warm Thank You to each of the volunteers. Your support and enthusiasm are what makes this such a terrific day. Knit-Out 2005 was a success because of you!!!
And a big THANK YOU to Patsy Fisk for heading up this wildly successful annual event.
