What I Did On My Summer Vacation --Went to Stitches Midwest!
Thursday, August 19
After months of anticipation, it’s time for my first real vacation in two years--a trip to Stitches Midwest. Would this four-day weekend live up to my expectations?
How Far Can You Knit?

MINNESOTA KNIT-OUT WEEK 2004 will begin on October 3rd at the Ridgedale Mall in Minnetonka, MN and end on October 9th at the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth, MN. The distance between these two malls is 170 miles (according to Map Quest). In terms that a knitter would understand, this is equal to 299,200 yards (1 mile= 1,760 yards) or 1,670 skeins of Lamb's Pride worsted weight yarn (190 yards/skein) from the Brown Sheep Company.

My grandmother taught me how to play a mean game of gin rummy. She did not teach me how to knit. My mother taught herself to crochet after she had kids but she quit a long time ago. So I didn’t pick up knitting as a tradition handed down through the women in my family. What called me to knitting was my own experience of motherhood, only not the way you might think.
