Welcome to Winter!

Welcome to Winter!

MKG Website Exclusive - knitters.org

As I write this in early December, this President is feeling little discombobulated this holiday season!  Does this sound familiar to any of you? As I madly knit on projects for gifts, I'm trying to focus on my blessings and positive thoughts.  I am blessed with many good friends, and I count all you knitters among them.  I wish I could knit more hours than are available, and even in my sleep.

Recently, I made a baby afghan for my new little neighbor boy.  I received a wonderful thank you note from him written by his parents, but written as if this baby was speaking.  I was so touched when I was referred to as Auntie Shirley. It will be so much fun to watch this little boy grow.  He will probably have to tolerate some other knitted items when his Auntie decides he needs then!

I just finished a hat for a nine year old girl who sits (for short periods) and knits with me.  She had picked out the yarn for the hat and I designed and knitted it, on a blue background with great big poofs of colorful yarn sticking out all over.  She looks darling in the hat and is very excited about it.  One person told her that she looked like a bowl of candy in her new hat. These are some of the joys my knitting brings me.  I hope your knitting is bringing you some joy, sanity and feelings of accomplishment.

Let's all remember to share our bounty with those who are in need.  Check out the Community Service section of this web site. There are many places that need knitted items, and as we give, we receive.  That's the joy of knitting.  I wish you all a happy holiday season, and a winter filled with peace and serenity.

Shirley Kimball, President
