After the tremendous response to knitting for the babies of Hennepin County Medical Center at our February 19 Guild    meeting, why not keep knitting for babies and young children? Project Linus is looking for volunteer knitters to make blankets to be given to seriously ill or traumatized children.

On Christmas Eve, 1995, an article appeared in Parade Magazine entitled 'Joy to the world' by Pulitzer Prize winning photo-journalist, Eddie Adams. Part of the article featured a petite, downy haired child. She had been going through intensive chemotherapy and stated that her security blanket had helped her get through treatments. Karen Loucks decided to provide homemade security blankets to Denver's Rocky Mountain Children's Cancer Center. Project Linus was born."

What can we do? Make new homemade, washable blankets, quilts, or afghans. Sizes: 45x45, 50x50 or 60x60. They are also distributing preemie hats, so we can knit those.  Non-knitting ways to help are to provide blanket making supplies, office supplies, stamps, or cash. Bring your contributions to a Guild meeting.
