Come Knit with Elsebeth Lavold!
The Minnesota Knitters' Guild is having a Special Event and Classes on March 4, 2013

Elsebeth Lavold has spent the last 30 years as a professional designer, starting the Vikings
Knit Project in 1992. She experimented with cable patterns to create a new technique that
visually represents artifacts of the Viking age in knitting. She has 461 patterns on Ravelry,
such as Gudrid, Greip, Atle Beret, Menja and Swedish Thora, to name a few. Please go and
see how she integrates her unique cabling techniques into her patterns.

Savy Girls Podcast Comes to MKG in January
Start the New Year off with a hearty laugh at the Minnesota Knitters’ Guild’s January 15, 2012 meeting, featuring podcasters Melanie and Deborah Gall, the two hosts from the The Savvy Girls Podcast.
Coming to you from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; New York, New York, USA; and wherever else they may happen to be, sisters Melanie and Deborah take a playful and thoughtful look at knitting (among other things). Both sisters travel extensively - Melanie is a professional singer and actress and Deborah’s career has posted her throughout the world, and they have a wide range of stories about knitting, art, literature, travel, music, and – of course – everyday life. Be prepared to laugh!
Melanie may also inspire you to sing with her recently released CD, Knitting All the Day, a collection of never-before-recorded WWI knitting (yes, knitting!) music from Canada, Britain, France and the USA. Copies will be available at the meeting.
For those of you who aren’t quite sure what a podcast is, it’s a short, episodic digital show, available to download or stream to your computer or mobile device, such as an iPod.
The Savvy Girls podcast is available on iTunes and you can also check out their website at http://savvygirls.ca. New shows are released twice monthly.
See you in January!
Get the most out of your love of knitting! Membership benefits include pre-registration for Yarnover, a subscription to our quarterly Cable Gram, organized public service projects and camaraderie with fellow knitters. Annual dues are $30.
